Jeannine:
I totally agree that to be successful, you cannot become a “hermit” as we sometimes tend to do when we become VAs. Surrounding yourself with like-minded, positive, supportive people is key to not only growing your business, but keeping yourself on track of your goals. With so much “stuff” out there, it is hard to keep your goals in mind and get distracted by what I call the “shiny baubles.”
Another support that I feel is key is a coach and/or mentor. They not only can give you a fresh perspective on a problem you may be too close to, but they also are honest with you when you need honesty. They help you keep your goals in sight and not jump at every opportunity that comes around. There are amazing seminars, trainings, and books out there, but if they do not help you toward your end goals, they could be a waste of your time. Your coach or mentor can help you determine whether they are “shiny baubles” or something that will help you step toward your goal.
Great blog!

Vickie – Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot coming from a coach/mentor peer!
I totally agree about the ability of your mentor/coach to keep you accountable and on track with your business. Sometimes I think we undervalue ourselves in this area – it’s a very important part of what we can do to support our coaching/mentor clients.
I sometimes refer to myself as the accountability police….at least we can keep a sense of humor about it, eh?
